H L Suverkrup Elementary School Reviews

Wonderful principal with a good staff. Great kids, very respectful. Good parent support. Significant communication barriers, such as phone numbers that have been disconnected, emails that are not checked, etc. It's hard to see parent reviews condemning teachers about communication. Most of the teachers I know make daily phone calls home with only about a 20% success rate contacting anybody. Teachers are being asked to provide almost all consumable supplies and materials for the students. The schools don't have the money to provide paper, pencils, tissues, erasers (and the list goes on and on) for the students, but the teachers are not allowed to ask for the supplies they need from the parents, and the parents don't know what supplies to bring even when they want to donate. It's a vicious circle.

Great teachers and good discipline. When I was going there a few years ago, it was great. The teachers and principal do all their jobs, and so do the students. In my mind, it is the job of the student to tell the parents what happens at school, and the teacher's job to give the grades to parents and talk to them at Parent/Teacher conferences

No communication between the school and parents

Re: teacher quality-poor, for 2 yrs in a row, we requested a new teacher, but it never happened, and my daughter ended up with more anxiety and depression. Re:parent involvement, i always signed up but was never called, and re: activities, I never knew what was going on, never knew about any activities unless it was posted on the marquee. 'weekly' newsletter was vaque and about classwork, which i believe should be a teacher info sheet, not a general newsletter sent to all parents on an irregular basis. My daughter attended another school in town, Rolle, much better, excellent communication!!

Too much emphasis on test scores - not quality teaching material- Just teach test stuff all year. No hands on learning, no creativity to learning. Where is the fun of education? Kids can get good test grades without being taught the test.(Stanford & AIMS)
